As the ReRave project entered the arcade and amusement market, they needed "cabinet dress" which would display eye-catching graphics on the side of the arcade machine for players to see and draw in customers. This included not only arcade for the sides of the cabinet, but an LED-lit marquee which prominantly displayed the logo and publishing company.
The Kansas City Corporate Challenge (or KCCC) is an annual event in Kansas City in which major businesses compete in an Olympics-style competition to see who comes out on top. Cerner was accepting entries for logo designs that would be placed on their competitors t-shirts. I chose to keep the color count low to improve costs in printing and to keep things clean and to the point. The design also needed to be printed on various shirt colors so alternate versions were created.
Stepmania is an open-source reaction based gaming engine that utilizes XML and metric sets to perform interface manipulations such as menu animations, scripting interface motions, and he overall asthetic of the game. When designing this interface, I took a fairly familiar approach with it in using a "cover flow" style song wheel that most users are familiar with already. All player "stats" are clearly displayed in clean pane and easily accessible to players of all skills.
In any rhythym game, each song featured needs to have a clear identifying trait. With ReRave, each song has its cover art displayed in a 'cover flow' style setup; thus art needed to be created for each and every song. Not only did each cover need to be unique, they also needed to be memorable and 'fit' the style of the song. Covers were designed using primarily Photoshop. Each cover was created at print resolution of 1000x1000px and downscaled in engine to ensure the cleanest image possible.
While on the Transition Services team, we needed a user-friendly design that was based in Microsoft Excel that would be used by the Cerner Consultants to easily transform audits taken from Cerner HS systems and turn them into a fully formatted Cerner Data Collection Workbook. This included focus groups with various teams within Consulting to gain valuable feedback and implement changes that are tailored to the end user. This also became the standard layout to use across all Transition Services Excel macros.
After seeing the work I had done to represent their label's music for ReRave, Golden Needle Records reached out to me and commissioned a variety of album artwork designs for their upcoming releases in both the physical and digital media space. All artwork was created in Photoshop and Illustrator at 1000x1000px in print quality.
Stepmania is an open-source reaction based gaming engine that utilizes XML and metric sets to perform interface manipulations such as menu animations, scripting interface motions, and he overall asthetic of the game. When designing this interface, I used a "standard" technique in rhythm game interfaces with a simple slated song list with a graphic representing each song as it's hovered over. All player "stats" are clearly displayed in clean pane and easily accessible to players of all skills.
A close friend was getting married and had comissioned me to create the perfect wedding invitation to be sent to her friends and family. The wedding was in small town Kansas and she wanted the invitation to reflect that with simple colors, a hand-written font, and cute embelishments in between.
Zonkers Family Entertainment Center sponsored a music and rhythm gaming tournament, which they called the "Smash" tournaments. This was an annual event for 2013 and 2014 which required an engaging logo that also matched and represented the "season" that the event was taking place in. This also required recreating the Zonkers logo through Illustrator, as a high quality version didn't exist at the time.
Each year, First Hand Foundation hold its annual fundraising gala in October and in 2016, teams within Consulting were put into a competition against eachother to create a basket of items to be auctions off. With the theme of "BBQ Blitz", they required a nice sign that complemented the basket. The first thing that came to mind was a western rodeo theme with deep wood grains, which translated to the logo very well.
